Come out come out wherever you are
I'm not playing hide and seek. Just keeping busy with the upcoming exams and site releases. So don't expect much from me for the next few weeks or so. I'll try to post some links that are worth your look, but other than that I guess you're on your own :)Keep your fingers crossed all goes as planned.I've also started work on the css-reboot design and I think all is going acording to my shedule I've set for this particular project. Glimpses of the new design will not be made public so I guess...

Widget bliss
Konfabulator. What is it? Whatever you want it to be. Sounds confusing? Let's see if we can shed some light on the subject: Konfabulator is a JavaScript runtime engine for Windows and Mac OS X that lets you run little files called Widgets that can do pretty much whatever you want them to. Widgets can be alarm clocks, calculators, can tell you your WiFi signal strength, will fetch the latest stock quotes for your preferred symbols, and even give your current local weather. That's more like...

A List Apart 4.0
It's back baby! New design, new issue and much more. I must admit I was a bit surprised to see A List Apart entrie appear on Stylegala today, since the last issue was published way back at the end of May. I was among those who thought it will slowly fall into oblivion. But I was wrong. Good for me right :) I love the new desing, that was made by Jason Santa Maria. But it's not just the design and logo that's new on ALA, as Jeffery Zeldman writes in the latest issue: For ALA 4 .0, Jason...

Google Sitemaps
OK, I've got to stop writing about Google so much. You might start thinking there's something going on between the two of us. But I asure you, nothing is going on ;) What have I stumbled upon this time? Google Sitemaps. They are marked as Beta, but a feature like that won't stay Beta for much longer. So what is it? Well Google has this to say. Google Sitemaps is an easy way for you to help improve your coverage in the Google index. It's a collaborative crawling system that enables you to...

One week of Google Maps
John Resig wrote a very nice seven-part tutorial about the Google Maps API. Here is a list of those 7 tutorials with short summaries for each. Part 1In this first part of the seven-part tutorial John describes the motivation behind the tutorial series and hit's us with a double-whamy: Geocoding addresses for Google Maps and Click Zoom. I find the Click Zoom a very nice feature, but it lacks the right click zoom out functionality.Part 2John explains how to Auto Scale Maps when showing a...

Track visitors using Google Maps
Earlier today I came across a nice way to track the visitors to your page using Google Maps. It tracks your 20 most recent visitors and displays them using the aforementioned Google Maps. How to get in on this? Visit gVisit website and follow their instructions: 1) Register your website using the form below. It is free and we don't collect any personal information - not even an email address. 2) Copy and paste a single line of JavaScript to your website. It is easy and doesn't change the...

Winamp playlist
I first came across the winamp recently played list on Janne's blog. He had already written a good entrie about the things required to make it all work, but he did not get into the more technical lingo, or even to show some of the code that he used to make the whole thing work. So I decided to take it a step further for all you bloggers who want to show the world what you're listening to while you're behind your computer.

I'm on the map
I've made a few changes to the site (yes, again :)). I've added the full list of the 'Worth a look' section, full link list and the longer winamp playlist if you just have to know what I was listening to 99 songs ago :) I've moved my entrie feed to feedburner after reading this great entrie at his money blog. Right now I know I don't have a lot of readers but it's always interesting to see what people use to read feeds. I've also added a geo.position tag to my headers so you can find me on...

My dictionary is called Google
As you might have noticed, english is not my native language. I know it shows, so don't even try to make it easier on me :) So in order to get the spelling right I use a dictionary (a computer one, don't worry :)). Most of the time I can remember the words I'm looking for, I just can't get the spelling right. In comes Google and It's ability to correct your search when you've made a mess of things. I love that 'did you mean' phrase google uses to suggest that you might have misspelled...

Trojans and horses
A friend of mine entrusted me with his computer, complaining it was working very slow despite being bought not so long ago. And I'm always looking to help out a friend in need :) So I took the challenge. And boy was I up for a quest!

What's wrong with Sixers?
I just read that the Philadelphia 76ers have traded Marc Jackson to the New Jersey Nets. For what? A conditional second round pick in the 2006 NBA Draft. Now read the title of this entrie again. (???!) What's wrong with the Sixers GM? They traded the only good and stable player to contribute coming from the bench (12 points and 5 rebounds in 24.4 minutes of play). If that 'aint efficient, than I don't know what is. I really don't undestand how this 'trade' makes this team better. Who will...

carlitv.com, end of developing near?
Two sites announced in a span of two days?! You must think I'm crazy. Well I am, but that's beside the point :) I've had this site under my wing for too long now and it's about time I put the finishing touches on it. Some of the features will be missing at first, at least until the people responsible for it make up their minds. For now I took the idea I got for splet01.net (look for a post I made yesterday) and have put up an email signup form, where people can signup to receive the email the...

splet01.net coming back from retirement
Nope, you read it right. It's coming back, bigger and better than ever before - splet01.net. David and yours truly are working on bringing it back online soon. So far only the design is done, but it's a step in the right direction. For now you can leave us your email and you'll be notified when it's back for good. Expect big things in the near future :)

Some changes
I' ve made a few changes to the site. I've added the 'worth a look' section in the sidebar. I find it very usefull and fun :) It's basicly stuff that I read throught the day and don't want to forget, and I forget a lot.. A full list should be available shortly. And I finnaly made some much needed changes to the CSS on this site. You might notice all of the headings never looked better. I'm surprised I didn't see the mess before. Take my advice, don't bold andything if it doesn't have to be...

Apache Virtual hosts
A very useful Apache Server feature are its Virtual hosts. I came across them when I got tired of developing sites localy and then rewriting half of the paths when the site was online. I was looking for a quick and easy solution and I found it. So instead of just one virtual host - localhost, you can have as many as your heart desires. What are the benefits this approach has for a developer? No more localhost nonsense. From now on you do not have to write the whole url...

What's going on
With the Collective Bargaining Agreement signed early this week the NBA teams were finally allowed to sign and trade players. Thank god the agreement was reached, you do remember what happened to NHL this past year, don't you. And we all don't want that to happen again. Period.
