Site listed on CSS-Mania
Many thanks to the folks at CSS-Mania for listing hribar.info on their site. I must say this makes me proud. To see my site listed anywhere gets my artistic veins pumping and makes me feel all tingly inside (wait, did I really write artistic, I must've meant something completely different... :)).

Design galleries
As a designer wannabe I frequently check known design gallery websites, that list sites that excel in visual representation in one way or another. Most of the sites I follow are focused on CSS and XHTML valid design, with some exceptions. Here is my list, in alphabetical order. Best Web Gallery CSS Beauty CSS Design CSS Drive CSS Elite CSS Import CSS Mania CSS Vault CSS Zen Garden Design Shack Styleboost Stylegala tom.ma screenblog Ultrashock Unmached Style...

It's a snake, it's a snake!
Wrong. It's THE snake! Python. I've been flirting with this programing language (and you thought I was writing about Monty Python eh?) for quite some time now, and've now decided to dive in at the deep end. I've seen a few nice projects made with Python and so it found it's way on my to-learn list (wich is actually quite lenghty as you can imagine). So right now I'm reading Python In A Nutshell and liking it so far.

Have the standards changed?
800 x 600 It was said that 800 x 600 pixles rule is written in stone. But is it? The world around web developers is changing, but we still keep the same 'standard'. The world has long ago embraced 1024 x 768, and yet we still make everything for the old 800px width. Are we rigid? Stubborn? Or do we just have to make websites for those folks with 800px widths? The rule is to let everybody in so they can see the content, but does it really need to be the guy with the smallest width that...

I've made up my mind to buy, but wich one?
First of all why a laptop? Trendy? Geeky? Fashionable? No. I just think I'm not as productive behind the desk as I could be if I'm mobile. I can bring my laptop to client meetings and show them the current project phase on the laptop instead of looking for a computer with internet connection and uploading everything to a server from home (OK, I guess it works, but I'm getting a bit tired of it all). Another reason is WiFi with quite a few access point in my city. The list goes on...

Five fruits
Another interesting email was delivered to my inbox today and it happens to be one of the best of this kind that circle the web. In the middle of the table is a round food tray with five kinds of fruits on it. They are: a. Apple b. Banana c. Strawberry d. Peach e. Orange Which fruit will you choose? Please think VERY carefully and don't rush into it. This is great, I was astounded by how accurate this was. Your choice reveals a lot about you!

Eurobasket 2005
I've been watching our Slovenian national basketball team write history. We've participated 6 times in the Euro Championships but never made it to the quarterfinals. With Greece, France and Bosnia in our group and our NBA guard Beno Udrih injuring his knee, things didn't look promising at all. The first pesimist were already fortelling a new fiasco. The Slovenians have always had potential, but it has never materialized into a medal at an international competition. It will be the same...

Coincidence?
I got an interesting email today and I thought I could share it with all of you: Year 1981: Prince Charles gets married. Liverpool wins the Champions' League. The Pope dies. Year 2005: Prince Charles gets married. Liverpool wins the Champions' League. The Pope dies. If Prince Charles decides to get married again and Liverpool wins the Champions' League, please warn the Pope.

Who wants to be a millionaire?
OK, who doesn't, but this has to be one of the more interesting ways to do ti. This guy is selling his site, pixle for pixle. Dollar for dollar. And there's a million pixels available. Each worth a dollar ($1). At present time he has sold 12 000 pixles. Not bad :) The minimum purchase is $100 (100 pixels), and the maximum purchase is whatever is left. When you 'buy' my pixels you will not 'own' any part of the homepage or this site, but rather you are granted the right to submit an image...

I guess he just couldn't stay away
You might remember how John Oxton decided 'over night' to call it quits. I was really surprised about this, mosty because this is by far the best blog design I've seen so far ( aldo a recent attempt to copy this look came pretty close ). But after reading a few other blogs I saw what his motivations for leaving the blogging world were. But like a good soap opera, the story didn't end there. I recently took another look at his site, while I was on the hunt for some good design ideas, and saw...

Never A Word
Never a word, a word so true Passed between us, me and you Heard you found your pot of gold That's the story I've been told Never a word was said in vain Some were never sad again Some were lost in lovers' heat Some lay fallen at our feet All day all night You and only you All day all night I think of you and only you Never a word escaped my lips Silenced by your fingertips I kept my word, can you believe All this time so hard to breathe Hard to breathe - Deep Purple,...

Site updates
With these site updates hribar.info is set for the css-reboot project I talked about earlier. So with the structure of the document the way I want it, I focused my tired brain cels on making a new head for this minimal design. I guess I got tired of the old one and so made a completly new navigation and logo/typeface. The logo has a kind of a devilish aftertaste to it and perhaps has a deeper meaning (check out the worth a look section for the comment on Which religion is the right one for...
